LESBIA THRIVING BUT NOT INCREASING. No doubt it will be interesting to readers generally to hear news as to the progress of Sir Daniel Coopers undefeated filly. Lesbia. the more so as she was turned out of training after she had closed her two-year-old account by winning the Middle Park Plate, says Vigilant iu London Sportsman. Her period of unrestrained freedom will. I understand, be brought to a close today, for she is under orders to return forthwith to the Lagrange stable. and presumably will take her old place in Rl.uk-wells string. According to all accounts the thick-pel daughter of St. Frusquin and Glare has Iiene iited by her "holiday" in all respects except a regards growth in height. I have not seen her, but am informed on the best of good authority that she does not exceed fifteen hands one inch, so that unless she soon makes a start she will be m "oting some of her opponeuts in the classic races at a big disadvantage as far as regards size. Rumor has it that Sir Daniel Cooper has a fine three-year-old coll. in Petrillo, by Gallinule. out of Float, but the most that can be known of him outside the stable is that he is .well grown, good lookiug and a fine mover. Sir Daniels classic nominations for this year are: Two Thousand Guineas, Petrillo; One Thousand Guineas. Lesbia: the Derby. Lesbia and Petrillo; the Oaks. Lesbia aud l.obliiu; St. I.eger, Lesbia and Petrillo.
