MANSARD IN FEONT AGAIN. VETERAN OF MANY RACES OUTSTAYS PLAUSIBLE IN A HOT FINISH. Oakland Speculators Favored with Good Fortune — Bill Curtis Takes a Race After Many Defeats — Fred Bent Wins. Oakland. Cal., February 0. — The local race going publics remarkable series of betting successes of yesterday at Oakland continued practicallv without a break today despite the fact that favorites only accounted lor half of the card. Every winner was heavily am! persistently backed, the successful second choices. Prince of Orange and Fr-d Bent, really attracting the bulk of .the support in their respective races. Bill Eatons in the second race was the only grumbled about defeat during the afternoon. R. Red Leaf and others of the Keene string are expected from Arcadia today. Dr. Rowell is sending back some of the Williams horses in the same car, but others to take their places will be shipped to Arcadia at once.
