DEATH OF A TRULY GREAT HORSE. Lexington. Ky.. February C. — It is Teported here that The Bard, the twenty-five-year-old stallion by liongfellow— Brademante, by War Dance, has been humanely destroyed at Chesterbrook Stud at Berwyn. Pa. The Bard served in the stud here for several years in charge of William Steele, but became so intirm l.1-.t spring that pel mission was asked of Major E. P.. Cns-atl to | iit him out of the way. His owner, however, decided to have him shipped to Chester br.M.k. In bis four years on the turf The Bard won twenty seven races, all of them stakes ami twelve of them won in sin-cession and his total a i:uiings amounted to $.Mi,S!i5. As a siTe in the stud at Cbesterbniok and afterward in Kentucky, he was ii,, i us successful as he was as a race horse and the liest of his get was Gold Heels.
