PREPARING FOR RACING AT LOUISVILLE. Louisville. Ky., March 30. — Charles E. Creed of Chicago has been engaged to auction the pools at Churchjl Downs. Mr. Creed has spent five years on the grand circuit selling pools on trotting races, and comes here highly recommended. The machines will be placed in a row on the west side of the old betting ring, and the four cashiers will have stands at the north end. It has been decided to erect a blackboard twenty-two feet high and seven feet wide, on which will be plated, where occupants of the grandstand can read, the names of tin- jockeys riding in each race. Track siqicrintondont Harry Carr has been engag d with a force of men in repairing the steeplechase course and now claims that it is equal to the best in the country. All of the low places have been tilled in and green mounds mark the limits of the course. It is proposed by the management to make steeplechasing one of the features of the meeting this spring and many owners of jumi ors have notified S. cretary Davis of their intention to ship here tor the meeting.
