STILL LOOKING INTO FIREBALLS CASE. San Francisco. Cal.. November 27. The investigation conducted by the stewards of the New California Jockey Club into Fireballs lack of speed -while running as a favorite last Saturday remains unfinished. II. G. ltedwell, owner of the horse, was before the officials and he was inclined to lay the r responsibility for Fireballs bad showing on jockey Shillings action in plying his whip unmercifully on the horse, but Shilling declared that he lind not resorted to the use of the whip until Fireball had be"un to quit badly under him. Bedwell claimed that he had bet on the horse and had advised all his friends to do likewise. The officials are still making Inquiry into certaiu angles of the betting against the horse. .
