STATISTICS OF ITALIAN RACING. Statistics have been furnished showing the development of racing in Italy. The flat racing budget amounted to S9.920, of which nearly 00,000 was added by the different racing societies and the balance by the king of Italy and the different municipalities. Only one horse, Demetrlo, by Clalron, out of Miss Snap, belonging to Prince Doria Pamphl-llthe. winner of the Prix Parloll and the Derby and Omnium at Rome, lias won over 0,940. He is followed on the list of winners by another three-year-old, Brimo. belonging to the Besnate Stud, with 0,550, and then conies Qui Vive, by Merlin, out of Quelquefois, which secured for his owner, M. Albert Chantre. .0S5. Acacia, bought out of the stable of Mr. W. K. Vanderbilt. and by Halma, out of Promenade, bought by Prince Deliella. returned her owner ,140, and then fifth on the list comes Pionere. sent up by his trainer, the late Aleck Waugh, to run for Sir Rholand In the Prix du Con-sell Municipal of 1907. Uakamba. a two-year-old filly out of the same stable, has proved the ability of the late trainer for the stable by showing the best and most consistent form. She is a daughter of Melanion. out of Kikamba. and has won seven out of the eight races in which she has run. The cross-country budget is not a very large one. amounting simply to S5S.000. of which ,520 fell to the French horse. Tramat. by Tantale. out of Laure, the winner of the Grand Steeplechase at Milan. L. Spencer stands at the top of the list of winning jockeys, and is followed by Emery. Jacobs. Varga, A. Childs, Wicks. Bartlctt, Goddard. E. Crlckmere, Beckwith, P. Smith. Rhymes. Woodcock, Blackburn, F. Turner, Rossi, Reld, Cassola. Hemming and Wright.
