NOTES OF THE TURF. 0. Johnson lias purchased Traffic, Andoche and Miss Modesty, all of which are now at the Oakland track, where they will race under their new owners colors. H. Michaelson, the treasurer of the Union Jockev Club, the governing turf body of Germany, died recently at ids home in Berlin. Mr. Michaelson was well known for his affability to all who came in contact with him and his death is regretted by all German turfmen. The leading owners on the English turf for the past five years were: Major E. Loder in 1904, with S99;495: W. H. Walker in 1905. with 1S,435; the late Lord Derby in 1000. with 04,030; W. H. Walker in 1907. with .550. and J. B. Joel iu 190S, with 31,230. H. J. Barnato. a well-known South African finan cier and owner of race horses, died at London, En;, land. November 30. Mr. Barnato was the owner o the great racer. Sir Geoffrey, which won the Lii colnshire Handicap in 1900. He was sixty yea .-of age and death was the result of heart disease. At a sale on the farm of Nicholas Brown, nem Pickering, Ont.. on Tuesday, Princess Edna, by Si Mark, in foal to Ilaltling, was sold to John Boatman for .15. Millmark. by Millbrook Princes-Edna, a three-year-old. went to Samuel Mussen for 110. Milledna, two-year-old, was bought by W Ward for SSO.
