Font outbroke his opponents and drew away in the first few strides, showed the most speed and held the race safe all the way. Whisk Broom came through on the inside after entering the homestretch and finished with a great rush through the stretch. Cloisteress tired at the end and was driving to the limit to stall off La Tosca III. John A. Munro was messed about all the way. Charlie Lusk, shuffled back at the start, finished with a great burst of speed and outgamed Kingthorpe. The latter was well up throughout, but tired under punishment.
