RAIN AND MUD AT SAN ANTONIO. San Antonio. Tex.. December 28. A heavy downpour before race time accompanied by intermittent showers during the afternoon made racing conditions disagreeable at the Fair Grounds this afternoon. The track was also in the worst state it has been since the opening. Mudlarks held sway and the staunch support accorded them accounted for the big losses sustained by the bookmakers. Ed Tracy and Kate Carney were mediums of small-sized "killings" and scored in easy fashion. The victory of Ciu tilla in a spirited drive over Loyd and Coatcutter. was the surprise and feature of the afternoon. Fresh hopes were revived today regarding the Xew Orleans situation by rumors that a race meeting will take place next month.
