He has left Louisville to attend the opening at Ptraato. Jockeys Alarie, J. Carroll. Gaugel. Gargan. 1". Kelly, w. Mclntyre. D. Riley. Lycurgus. J. King. G. McLaughlin and Vesper wifl be seen In the saddle at flu- Victoria meeting. Tony Bonero. one of whose km es was injured by collision wilh the fence iu a race at Santa Anita Park last winter, will not be iu condition to face I he barrier before July. Thomas Ilealey. who is training for R. T. Wilson. Jr.. is represented as having soured on the progeny of Mexican and is pleased tiiat his cniplour has disposed of hat stallion. Ernest I.e Montagues good colt. Lothario, by Or lando — Elopement, and half brother to Carry Hermann, has been desperately sick at Belmont Park for upward of a week with pneumonia. B. D. Downing, n bay colt bv Senator McCarren — Credulity, bred and owned by Timothy D. Sullivan, lias reached New York from up state and will be taken iu hand for training by George Kraus. Sam Hildreth is counting on starting Joe Madden in the Withers and thinks that the colt will he aide to take the measure of Fayette, on which John Madden is relying for the winning of this important fixture. Richard Dwyer will proceed to Victoria to do the starting at tlie Willows summer meeting iininedi alelv at the close of his Salt Lake engagement. Meanwhile a substitute will send the fields away at the Victoria track. Peter Winimer pronounci s Rrushhroom. a Broom-slick colt that Thomas Ilealey is training for R. T. Wilson. Jr.. the handsomest youngster he has tana in two seasons. He resembles Broomstick about the head and shoulders and has the rump of Ben Brush, his grandsire. It is repotted that jockey Walter Miller will do some of Jack Joyners heavyweight riding upon arrival iu England. .Miller expects to do 110 pounds Indefinitely. Glucose, which won a maiden race at Belmont Park Tuesday in impressive style. Is a full brother to First Water, which bitter horse made a tine showing as a two-year-old in Newton Benningtons colors. Glucose was purchased by Thomas Welsh at the E R. Thomas sale last smnmer. Frank Gardner is trying hard to save his crack colt. Statesman, which broke one of the small lioncs of his near foreleg in the prcukness Stakes at Plin-lico. Gardner has little ]io|h- of racing Statesman again, but is desirous of saving him for the stud. rani Barney is reported to have made a handsome offer for Statesman just before the opening of the limlico meeting. McCarter. winner of the Excelsior Handicap last season, is in such condition that he may not be able to run another high-class lace. He was a long time getting back to the scales after the race in which he ran second at Belmont Park Tuesday and jockey Dilgan told Judge McDowell that he thought Unhorse had broken down during the running of the race. McCarter has not been himself since he was thrown into the fence in the Metropolitan Handicap I year ago.
