V00RHEES RETIRED TO THE STUD. San Francisco. Cal., May 20. -A. P.. Spreckels has discarded Marina II.. one of his imixirtcil atalliom and has instilled the American horses. Dr. Leggo aud VoafhSf , for stud duty al Napu Stock lurui. The imported stallion. Solitaire II.. Is retained. Dr. Leggo was a doable Derby winner in California and his a Burns Handicap to his credit. Voornecs is a son of Solitaire II.. whose racing record prob ably would have been much better but for unsound underpinning, resulting from In judicious handling In the early part of his two year-old season. As a two year-old he ran some high-class races on the New-York tracks in 1MB, and made a record for five furlongs on the turf course at Sheepshead Bay that si ill stands. Several of the best mares at Napa Stoi k Farm have already been bred to him under the orders of Mr. Spreckels. who Is sanguine that the horse will be a success In the stud. During his Ave seasons on the turf Yoorhees won eleven races and some 5,000. He raced in California last winter and is now a six-year-old.
