May 22.— The forty-davs meeting ot the ftah Jockey Club opened uiuler the most favorable circumstances tislav. with a crowd of 0.000 present. 5.000 of whom were lownsfolk. The betting was conducted in twelve lxioks and was fairly good when it is taken into considerate:! that the sinirt is something now to Salt I.ake Citv. Starter Dwyer was In excellent form, and his harrier work commendable. Judging from todays attendance the people here will undoubtedly support racing, and a most successful meeting is expected. The track lioasted many improvements ami everything passed off without a hitch of any kind.
