The latter wis shuffled back soon after the start and had to go wide into the stretch, was gaining in the middle furlong, but tired slightly near the end. Metzie laced Into a contending position in the first quarter and out gained I.aveno at the end. I.aveno stumbled frequently in the difficult going. Pinkard had no mishaps.
