WORK BEGINS ON VANCOUVER TRACK. Plant Will Be Completed in Season for Opening Thirty-Day Meeting in August. Vancouver. B. C. June 3. — Definite announcement 1ms been made that a season of tblrtv days racing, commencing August 20. will be held this year at the new track to Ik- built ou the Brlghouse property. Lulu Island, miir this city, one hundred acres of level land with a frontage of half a mile on the trolley line at Brighton Station have licen secure!, and tlie work of building the track and putting up stables, clubhouses, stands, etc., will be commenced at once. The entrance to the grandstand will be within a few feet of the trolley line at Brighton Station, and a house to cost 2,000 will be built under the supervision of George T. Cotton, who built the Meadows track at Seattle. The sum of 5,000 will be spent on the plant, in addition to the price of land, and everything will be in readiness for opening August 20. The whole undertaking is being financed by local business men.
