Fort Carry was taken back early and rated along under restraint for the first six furlongs, then moved up with a rush on the far turn and easily disposed of Shore Lark in the stretch. The latter made all the early PMe under slight restraint, but could not last the route. Desert Star quit after going a mile. Steve Lane finished with a rush, was w taring the wiuuer down and probably would have won had Simpson made his run sooner with him. John Dillon was much used in racing Commodore Fontaine Into defeat and tired in. the last quarter. The long delav at the post was due to part of John Dillons equipment breaking. Zipango followed the leaders under slight restraint for the first five furlongs and made a game challenge at the fur li.-ig post, but was tiring under punishment at the end. Dennis Stafford set the pace to the stretch and tii-.l in the last sixteenth. The winner was entered for 1909.shX10; no bid.
