M CHORD A USEFUL PLATER. McChord. whose destruction was ajecaaaitated by an accident in which his stifie was broken at La tonia Wednesday, was a useful plater in his rounder days. From the time of his debut on the New York tracks as a two year-old. he raced in the .-..lots wt Ed Alvey and unti! the infirmities of age ma. I, their appearance he was fairly consistent. This year, however, he started thirteen times and succeeded in winning only onci — at Santa Anita Park early in the year. McChord made ills debut in I maiden race at Brighton Beach. Jockey llildebran.l rode him i.n.l Ed Alvey backed him down from a long opening price to 6 to 1. making a sensational whining.
