Gold Reef, from the Ascot marc. Seal Brown. At Rlccartoti last August. Gobi Seal made an effort to win the New Zealand Grand National Steeplechase, but though he was put in at the minimum. US pounds, he could only finish third to Funis. 142 BOejada. and Lc Ban. 141 poinds. At the same meeting on the following day. however. In the Beaufort Steeplechase. Gold Seal carried 139 pounds home in front of nine opponents and the game manner in which he finished up his task on thai occasion, made a most favorable impression and gave the idea that he was good enough for the great English turf event.
