BIG CROWD AT BR00KLINE OPENING. More than 12.000 persons visited the Country Club at Brookliue. Mass.. Thursday, at the opening of the annual rare meeting. There were seven events on the card, four flat races and three steeplechases, and some close contests ensued. There were a great manv falls, no less than seven animals going down, but in no instance was a rider injured. Linnia. one of the starters in the principal race of the afternoon, the Challenge Cup Steeplechase, took a header at the tennis hurdle and broke her nock. The animal was owned by Harden banning of Sherborn. Mass. The winners included Victory Belle. Demijohn. F.sehau. Killochau. Vaquero. Grandpa and Prince Hampton.
