MDOWELLS PLEASANTRY WITH V0SBURGH. New York. June 23. — Walter S. Vosburgli. the handie-appor of the Joe-key Club, was one of the first eastern huratami who shook haada with t. c. McDowell upon the latters arrival here from Ken tacky with his ra.-ing stable. The tall Kentaekian told Mr. Vosburgli that he came east by his special invitation. "Kb 7" said Vosburgli. a bit mystified. "Why." replied McDowell, "did you not consider that you tenelered ate a most cordial invitation to come to Bhtepahead Bay whe-n you dropped Kings Daughter in the Suburban under 105 pounds. You know this mare is improving as she grows older. She is ao longer merely a sprlnier. She can carry her spet-d over I distance- of ground now. 1 do not know that she has sufficient class to win the Suburban, but I believe tliat she will make a creditable showing." Now that Mr. McDowell is in the east, he will play the string out. which is to say he will race at Sheepshead Bay. Empire City ami Saratoga, and then come back to New York for the fall meetings.
