STAR OF SECOND DAY BRINGS ,500. New York, July 1. With three exceptions, small prices ruled on the second day of the auction of yearlings from Runnymede. Dixiana, Raceland and Meadowthorpe Studs at Slieepsliead Bay today. Thirty-one head were sold for a total of .G25. an average of 5?24G. The star of the sale, a good-looking chestnut colt from. Raceland Stud by Orlando Vassari. was acquired bv the Newcastle Stable for ,500. F. J. Nolan paid the next highest price. ,300, for the bay colt by Kingston Stylitene and the full brother to Kentucky Beau and Ocean Bound went to Thomas Collins on a bid of ,000. This was considered the bargain of the sale. None of the remaining twenty-eight yearlings brought as much as 00. J. Dyment has been a liberal buyer of thoroughbred yearlings the past week. Forty of bis purchases will be shipped to Canada within the next twenty-four hours. While at Saratoga recently R. T. Wilson. Jr.. bought tlie pick of the Madden yearlings. Hi. purchases include twenty of the forty-eight bead that Madden had. Among . them are full-brothers to Big Stick, Trigger and .Hoe .Madden.
