EMPIRE CITY STAKE RACING PROSPECTS. Entries to Three of the Principal Stakes Point to Racing of the Highest Class, The Empire City meeting will begin at the Yon-kers track Wednesday. July 14. Of all the New York meetings it receives the greatest measure of patronage from western owners, probably because its manager is a western man and, as a natural sequence, excites sympathetic interest in the minds of western patrons of racing. At the same time. It Is favorably regarded by the New Yorkers, and the sagacious attitude of the Empire City managers when the troubles caused by the Ilart-Agnew law came on, won It a standing with the Jockey Club that places it on an equal footing with the longer-established racing organizations of the metropolitan circuit. As a consequence, the stakes offered by it have been as well putrouizod as those at Belmont Park, Gravesend or Sheepshead Bay, and there Is every reason lo expect the Empire City racing to be as good as any that will take place over New York tracks this year. In confirmation of this the entries made to three of Its representative stakes one for stayers, one for sprinters and one for two-year-olds are here presented: The Empire City Handicap, Value ,000.
