ELLICOTT A WELL-BRED STALLION. Montreal, Que.. July 1. Ellicott. which lias been donated to the Canadian National Bureau of Breeding by J. H. Madigan, Is a stoutly-bred horse with a good record. When fit he could run a fast mile, and was just as good at one and one-half miles as at the shorter distance. He is a bay stallion, five years old, by Toddington, out of the well-known mare. Duchess of Towers. He was foaled at James B. Haggins Rancho del Paso Stud in California and bought at the New York sales. His dam is by Algerine. sire of such mares as Crimea, Blue an 1 White, Barbary Maid. Marguerite, Java and Runaway. Algerines first dam was Imported Presto, by Pretender, and second dam Aslauga, by Rataplan. Algerine was by Ab-el-Kader. a son of Australian, out of Nina, by Boston. Toddington. the sire of Kllicott, is by Melton, sire ot the great Sysouby.
