Palo thiqueto, running in nearest pursuit, was patiently reserved in the early running, then drew out midway of the stretch and Won as her rider pleased. Lucetta outbroke and outpaced the others for five furlongs and finished a good second. Flofield steadily improved her position into a fast going third. Madeline L.. badly outpaced in the early running, finished with a fast, but belated, rush. Indian Maid, well up to tin stretch, tired, was palpably short and is a grand looker. Placide showed superior early speed, but failed to stay. May Florence ran poorly.. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Ballacalla made the running by a wide gap and. when Thistledale fell at the end of a mile and a half came home alone after making several serious blunders at the obstacles and is promising. Steve Lane trailed far in the rear for over half of the journey, then closed up rapidly into a pulling up second. Se-lecius ran forwardly for .a mile and a half and tired. Rampart was well up and persistent throughout but palpably outclassed. Thistledale was reserved within hailing distance of the pacemaker for a mile and a half, then took off too far at the twelfth jump and fell when he seemed a certain winner. Tony Faust, forwardlv placed, but outpaced by the first two, closed up rapidly in the last half Into an easy second, but never seriously menaced the leader. Judge Ermentrout. well up from the start, outstaved C.W. Burt decisively. The latter. ran lapped on the early pacemaker for half of the journey, then retired, quit all over finally and was pulled up. Mask-ette broke slowly and was nnder momentary pressure to take the lead and held sway very easily afterward, but seemed unable to stride freely in the going. Miss Kearney, badly outpaced for half of "the journev, closed an immense gap at the end in a cracking effort. Petticoat, outpaced early, ran into quick prominence in the middle quarter and was crowded back on the far turn, but came again witli a belated rush. Gliding Belle, a hopeless trailer to. the stretch, was gaining slowly finally. Sundance showed superior early speed, but failed to stay. Ruble outbroke and ontpaced the others for six furlongs and was an en toy second. Imitator, badly outpaced early, made up much ground in the last lialf in a good effort. Sanguine ran forwardly and persistently throughout and will do soon. Fountainbliie. after nearest pursuit of the pacemaker for six furlongs, quit badly in the stretch. Lally, nearly left, closed a big gap. Miss Catesby was prominent for six furlongs. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. Herkimer drew out in the first stride and proceeded to spreadeagle the others, although boring out sharply finally, bolted to the outside fence and was Jerked back to the Inner rail on the stretch turn, then swerved all the way home and won on sufferance. Baron Dieskau. luckily and forwardly placed throughout, was pulled up to a standstill to prevent beading his stable companion and was much the best. Diction, well up from the start, finished fast on the. inside and was a lucky third. Lord Baltimore; from a bad inside start, rapidly got In touch with the leader, but was bumped repeatedly by the winner, and this cost him third place. Marigot. crowded out at the half, closed a big gap home and is a good looker. German Silver was going like a shot at the end. Eddie Dugan seemed seriously haudicapiod by the going. Caudleberry. a grand looker, was nearly left and Is green, but will do to watch. Scratched Voltaire, 110.
