WINNERS OF THE TRAVERS STAKES 4 Having first been run as far back as in 1864, the Travers is the longest-established race for tlirce-year-olds of this country, the Rolmont Stakes coming next with a record of a first running in 1S07. It was named in honor of V. H. Travers, one of the founders of racing at Saratoga and an ardent admirer of racing, besides being a great wit. ready sneaker and a power in Wall street.
