Fair Louise ran in striking distance early pursuit and drew out decisively in the stretch, but won driving finally. Jiicquellna, away slowly, held forth in the rear to the stretch, then closed up rapidly, but was ocketed i and impeded frequently and failed to get up. but was much the best. Herpes, from a Hying start, uiade . the running by a wide gap to the stretch and tired in the closing drive. Cellaret, forwardly placed to the i last turn and then shuttled back, came on into a fast going and close up fourth. Queens Soug ran ill . . nearest pursuit of the pacemaker to the stretch and tired as if short. Perry Johnson is not ready and was outpaced early, but finished well, as usual. Commodore Fontaine ran in forward pursuit from the start and, challenging Marksman In the last half, outstayed the latter after being carried out and roughed about repeatedly In the closing drive. Marksman, reserved for the first mile, drew out into a long lead when Selectus quit and held the lead for six furlongs, then, In a gruelling struggle to the final strides, tired and was disqualified for fouling. Selectus threatened to spreadengle his opposition for the first mile and was excessively nrgedlJnto an immense lead, but tired and finally bolted on the turn. High Range, from a lucky start, made the early pace on the inslda in close quarters and was crowded in the last half and an unlucky loser under a bad rider. Stolypin, nearly left, closed an immense gap and just failed to get up in an end rush. Footpad ran. lapped on ihe pacemaker for seven furlongs and tired in the final strides. Mary Davis ran forwardly throughout, but was surrounded and crowded In the last sixteentli and tired as if short after a grand effort. Dr. Uarkley wan prominent for five furlongs. Pocomoke, away badly, improved his position steadily. Wintergreen ran forwardly for five furlongs, then tired, was palpably short and !s a good looker. Rio Grande, away badly, ran into quick forward pursuit and loomed, up menacingly at the end of a mile, but succumbed in the closing drive. ZIpango, away badly and outpace in a rear position for half of the journey, closed an Immense gap at the end of a. cracking gool effort. Belleview was well up throughout, but never really dangerous. Greenbrldge was In prominent pursuit for seven furlongs and tired, but finished gamely and is promising. Eschau, unexpectedly well up for tun first mile, quit badly. Busy, from an inside flatfooted start, was shuffled br.ck repeatedly and made up much ground In the last half, .but failed to. get up while going like a shot in a cracking effort. Cherryola ran in close quarters throughout, was pulling up at the half and pocketed all thrbugh the stretch, but outstayed the others decisively in a good race. Rocky OBrien was a close contender to the final strides and weakened badly. Medallion, away slowly, ran into a quick lead in a brilliant burst of speed, but tired in the closing drive. Shannon, away poorly, shuttled back and outpaced early, was going like a shot in the stretch. Candleberry, nearly left, closed a big gap. Colinet, outpaced early, ran a fast middle quarter, but tired and was pulled up abruptly in the last sixteenth. Ruhia Gramla, from a Hying start, led by a wide gap to the stretch and, tiring, swerved to the inside, but was a fast going second. Hans, outpaced In the early running, though well up, made a fast closing sprint and is extra good. John Carroll, away very badly, closed a big gap. Campaigner made up much ground in the last halfand so did Bonnie Bard. Chief Hayes, a distant third for six furlongs, quit in the last quarter. Sir Cleges failed to stay after showing superior early speed. Ida Reck was prominent for half of the ioiimey. The winner was entered for 1909.sh00; no bid.
