SATISFIED TO LET WELL ENOUGH ALONE. Now York. August 12. The plan of several lavors at Saratoga to form a so-called mutual protective association will not receive the sanction of the turf governors, who insist that betting of an oral nature must be confined strictly to individuals, with no semblance of organized bookmaking. In duo time it is believed that the courts wilt rule that cash wagers are no more illegal than oral bets and that a bettor may record his private transactions, in which event, it is argued, the layers and players will be sulliciontly protected against loss. Rut just now the turf governors are satistled to let well enough alone.
