Rose Queen drew out in the first stride and made the running under a pull, tired in the stretch, but finished unexpectedly gamely through the final sixteenth and is improving steadily. Dr. Barkley ran In forward and persistent pursuit from the start and was wearing the leader down at the end In a cracking effort and is fresh and good. Prince Gal broke slowly and was reserved too far in the rear for half of the journey and closed an immense gap in the last quarter, but could not get up. Twilight Queen, away in the rear, rapidly improved her position on the outside and challenged midway of the stretch, but tired iu the closing drive. Harrlgan, big, high and palpably short, ran In nearest and strenuous pursuit for six furlongs and tired badly at the end. Ten Paces, from a slow start, ran into quick forward attendance and drew out midway of the stretch, but succumbed readily to the favorite. Captain Swanson, from an inside slow start, was shuttled repeatedly to the rear and made up much ground in the last half into a fast going tlilrd. St. Delniol outbroke and threatened to spreadeagle the others In the early miming, but collapsed in the last furlong. Scarus, nearly left, trailed far back for three furlongs and closed up well In the stretch. Interpose, well up early, was unable to hold his position in the closing half and can do better. Jack Atkln. left llatfooted. was injudiciously sent after the others and closed up steadily an immense gap and got up in the last stride for second place. Kings Daughter set a fast pace from the start, held on gamely with a small advantage for seven furlongs and tired, but is extra good. Dorante, outbroke and badly outpaced for six furlongs, closed up fast with a belated stretch rush. Practical showed sujierior speed for six furlongs and tired, but finished well up. Belleview, well up for half of the journey, lost much grouud on the backstretch and was pocketed, but finished moderately well. Firebox held his close up position gamely all the way.
