ON THE WATCH FOR NIGHT RIDERS. Louisville. Ky., September 25. The professional tout that cannot show a clean record will have a rough time getting around the stables at Churchill Downs this fall, as some of the horsemen fear a repetition of the night-riding outrages on the Canadian tracks may be attempted. John Markloin suspects that his horse, W. A. Leach, was marked for a victim in Canada, but he took the tip from seeing a suspicious character prowling around his stable early in the evening, and one of his men slept that night in the stall of the son of Sir Dixon armed with a double-barreled shotgun. Creel was taken out of an adjoining stable and ridden until the tips of bis plates were worn off, but no attempt was made to molest Marklcins horse.
