Twilight Queen, lu inside close quarters early and crowded back at the half, closed up rapidly Into a fast going second after saving ground on the turn. Earls Court outbroke and outpaced the . others for live furlongs and tired. .Ron Homme ran In inside forward pursuit, but went wide on the turn and tired in the final strides as if short. Waponoca, awaj- poorly on the. inside and squeezed back, closed a tiig gap and is good. County Fair ran well up throughout and finished well. Chief Hayes was crowded out on the far turn and inadequately ridden from the start. Norfolk, nearly left, closed a gap. Snake Mary was prominent to the stretch, but quit. Fitz Herbert, bumped to his knees at the start, improved his oosition rapidly and, elosing an immense gap, challenged in the last quarter, but failed to get up in an heroic effort and was lst. Wis" Mason, bumped at the start, was a close contender for the first mile and tired in the closing drive, but finished close up. Dorante, away striding, ran in forward contention, but retired at the end "of seven furlongs and ran a bad race. Arasee closed a big early gap and was prominent In the third quarter, but failed to stay lu the stretch.. Moquette nearly fell from bumping and was hopelesslv outpaced thereafter. Woodcraft made the early pace,- but was passed on the backstretch by St. Joseph, then maintained close and lsersistent pursuit of the latter ami outstayed him decisively finally. St. Joseph, after being reserved early, moved up prematurelv into the lead and led to the last sixteenth, but succumbed in a hard final drive. The Peer got into third place earlv and stayed there, never menaced the two leaders, lint finished veil. Queen Marguerite was unable to raise a respectable gallop and was always decisively outpaced. Glcnuadeaue was the victim of four-mile waiting tar-tics was kept far in the rear despite the slow pace and messed about in the last quarter, but got tip lirallv for second place under an inadequate ride. My Gal ran in forward and persistent pursuit throughout. Top Notch also went well and finished gamely. Black Annie trailed throughout. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Scratched S490!
