INTEREST INCREASING AT JAMESTOWN. Norfolk. Va.. April 5. — Notwithstanding the smail fields, there was a still further increase in the attendance at tin- Jamestown Jockey Clubs track this afternoon. An additional hook went on today and there are more layers on the grounds ready to cut in as soon as the fields increase iu size. TAvo carloads of horses were shipped here from Jacksonville this morning and a contingent is on the wav from Belillillg. Secictary to-rhardy read the riot act to owners and trainers today and henceforth rood cause yvill have to be shown before tln-y will be permitted to scratch their horses. Ihe card today was greatly reduced by scratches. Out of thirty four entries, thirteen wen- w illnlrawn. In the first race Pace braek delayed the start twenty live minutes by crazy anti-s at Ihe seat, After throwing jockey Lang several times and running all over the eii etaaare, he was withdrawn. The Hatfield slable won two races with bhn Carroll and old Crenade. while David Dunlop also captured tyvo with Bcidaga and Takahira. Form followers again fared well, four out of five first choices winning. Two of them. Bob Co. and John Carroll, were at prohibitive odds. Tin- former justified the siion price by wlanlag eaafly. but John Carroll had to be rildeii out and gave his backers a scan .
