During the last few days some opposition to the racing lias developed among a few of the local merchants. They have no specific grievance, but their influence was sufficient to bring about the calling of a nieet ing of Busiuess League members to discuss possible steps to prevent the racing. The meeting is announced for tonight, but few are taking the matter seriously and the management announces that they will open according to schedule. The county prose-cutorlaud the sheriff are friendly towards the racing venture and the local press also seem to be in favor of the present term of racing at least. There is a possibility of a scarcity of jockeys On-less some riders, get here from Jacksonville. Tho rule of only eight starters to each race will be strictly enforced. Todays arrivals include Messrs. Colby and Smith, who are interested in the betting ring management.
