1 BELMONT HORSES DOING WELL AT MONTREAL. Watervale Counted on to Race Again This Fall Seagram String Reaches Blue Bonnets. Montreal, Que., August 31. The relmont horses now at Blue Bonnets being freshened for the autumn meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club, which opens on Saturday of next week, are doing much better than was looked for by trainer Wlialen. Watervale, the crack three-year-old of the stable., seems to have gotten over his ailment and is being given regular work with the rest of the string. He is being galloped each day and it is almost an assured fact that he will face the barrier at Blue Bonnets. Trap Rock is not doing as well and it is hardly likely that he will race here. The other horses in the stable have improved greatly since their arrival at Blue Bonnets and will lie in good condition when called on to race. The going here is much better than at some of the other Canadian tracks, as there is a deep cushion. This makes it easy for bad-legged horses to work over. The most recent arrivals at the track are the horses owned by Joseph E. Seagram, president of the Ontario Jockey Club. There are eight in the string, including Rockville, a recent purchase. They have all been galloped since arriving and arc ready. Simcoe, which was picked up since the Hamilton meeting, never looked better. He is ready to start. Cruche dOr. holder of the Canadian record for one mile and three-quarters, was brought to Montreal to start in the Derby Cup af. that distance, in which she scored last fall. Trainer G. R. Tompkins, who has his string at Blue Bonnets, has a shifty three-year-old steeplechaser in His Reverence. This colt "is schooled regularly with such horses as Jimmy Lane and Bello and will lie started in the events exclusively for three-year-olds here. This will be the first season in which races have been provided through the hold exclusively for three-year-olds and they have been a big attraction to owners with such horses. The recent arrivals are all doing well and their trainers are loud in their praises of the plant. Horses that have been racing on the Canadian tracks are arriving daily and. with many to come from Windsor, the meeting promises to be the best in the history of the club. All who have applied for stabling have been accommodated. The fact that over 000 stalls are available has enabled the management to look after every one. There are still some to hear from and there will he stalls for them. William Hogan, who trains the steeplechasers of Bartlett McLennan and It. T. Wilson, will be here -on Thursday. He is scheduled to ship from Saratoga on Wednesday night. Buckthorn, which was purchased from "William Walker in the spring, has developed into a likely jumper and will make his debut at Blue .Bonnets tills autumn.
