STEEPLECHASE RACES FOR COEUR DALENE. Alan, Idaho, August 31. Associate Judge Frank St. I. Skinner says that a feature of the coming race meeting at the new track of the Coeur dAlcne Fair and Racing Association at Alan, Idaho, that has not been given publicity is the racing for cross-country horses. "As often as sufficient entries can be obtained hurdle and steeplechase events will be programmed." says Judge Skinner. "There are quite a number of timber-toppers already on the ground and others are being schooled. Hurdle racing and steeplcchasing proved popular at Vancouver and will be carded, here." A carload of horses, the property of J. M. Wanton aud C. C. Capps. has reached the track from Vancouver. Among the lot are Mona Canomann, Phosphorus. Vlack Fluid, Ed Ball, Military Man and live others. Sheriff McFarland. of Kootenai county, has been placed In charge of the policing of the track and will have a foree of deputies constantly on duty. Captain Forsee, the Pinkerton man, who has had long experience in race track work, will report to Sheriff McFarland all suspicious incidents and characters.
