ANACONDA HAS CLOSE FINISHES. Anaconda, Mont., August 31. Notwithstanding that a rather uninteresting card was offered today, a good sized crowd turned out, and while not profiting to -any great extent, enjoyed a good days sport, as the races were well contested throughout, with the finishes in several instances highly exciting. The fifth race, though not the best of the afternoon, excited the most interest, everything in the race attracting support. The finish between the first four was so close that the winner remained in doubt until the official numbers were hung up. Oswald B., the ultimate winner, came from the rear with a great burst of speed and, getting through Oh the rail in the final sixteenth, just managed, to head the leaders at the wire.
