HORSEMEN BOOKED FOR LAUREL. Some Owners Plan to Ship from Montreal to New Track at Close of Blue Bonnets Meeting. Washington, D. C. August 31. The, work of track building at Laurel. -Md., tinder II. D. Browns supervision, has progressed far beyond expectations in the pastrweek and the track will be ready for horses to work over within another week. The work is being rushed so that horsenieu may ship from Montreal and Toronto immediately after the meetings there. There are a number of horsemen who have already signified their intention of shipping, from Montreal to Laurel in order to work their horses over the new track before racing begins. Harry Shannon will ship a string there from Montreal, which will include a number of two-year-olds owned by N. Macfarlane, a Canadian who was a buyer at the Sanford sale. Capt. P. M. Walker is another who will ship from Montreal to Laurel. He lias recently increased his string and will have some useful one.? at the new plant. G. W. Scott is another who will come direct to Laurel. His horses are how being freshened at Blue Bonnets and will bo at their best. Stables have been completed that will house over 500 horses at the present time. The program book is being made up and will offer races for all classes of horses from the cheapest selling plater to the best of the stake horses. There will be three stakes during the first week of the meeting, with two each week thereafter. The meeting will open as scheduled on October 2 and will continue for twenty-six days, closing October 31.
