STEAM BOAT began slowly, but steadily improved his position and, wearing the tiring leaders down in the homestretch, got up in the last fifty yards to win going away. FLORAS DIAL, a good looker, showed much speed for a half mile and led into the stretch, then tired In the final drive. PRINCE POLO set the early pace and was a game contender all the way. FIREMAN was on the inside and cut off several times during the early running, but closed up gamely in the homestretch and got up to win in the final stride. EDDA, after running under restraint for the first five furlongs, went around on the outside while rounding the far turn, but failed to quite get up after dis posing of STARBOTTLE. The latter was taken back in the early running aud appeared to be unextended for the first six furlongs, but seemed to tire in the final drive. MONCREIF began slowly, but moved up fast while rounding the far turn, but came wide on the stretch turn and, tiring, just lasted long enough to outstay LADY SABIL. The latter finished fast and gamely after being buffeted about in the earlv running. TOP NOTE besan well, but immediately dropped out of forward contention. COONEA" K. finished fast.
