DETERMINED TO HAVE CLEAN RACING. Maryland Jockey Club Lays Down Some Special Rules for Fall Meeting at Pimlico. Baltimore. Mil., August 31. The management of the Maryland Jockey Club has formulated some special rules for the forthcoming meeting at Pimlico that are designed to .promote the interests of racing here. These rules .are particularly aimed against the inconsistent running of horses and rough and i reckless riding on the part of jockeys. The latter are especially warned to tnke unusual care to avoir! interference with others while riding over the Pim.-lieo track. The rules referred to are as ofllows: "Owners and trainers are hereby notified that, without reference to any consideration of fraudulent intent or personal integrity, a reasonable measure of consistency will be required of all horses running at meetings of the Maryland Jockey Club. "Entries of horses failing to conform to the standard of consistency established by the stewards will lie refused, without easting any reflection upon the integrity of any one, unless, the stewards consider that the circumstances warrant such an interpretation, in which case a special ruling, clearly indicating the fact will be made. "Tho entry of any horse for races on the flat known to- have bled since January 1, 1!11, from either the nostrils or lungs, either in work or in a nice, will be refused. Any owner or agent attempting, knowingly, to enter such a horse, will be lined 00. "The attention of jockeys is particularly called to the necessity for taking unusual care to avoid causing interference in. races over the Pimlico track. "The limited width of the track, combined with the fact that, on a mile track, many races must be started near turns, make it essential that all possible precautions shall be taken to insure the safety of riders, and give all, as nearly as possible, an equal chance. "All avoidable interference will be promptly punished by suspension. "These rules will he rigidly enforced."
