f BUYS EIGHT YEARLINGS PRIVATELY. Lexington, Kv., September 19. William Oliver, he veteran trainer who campaigned among others the good racers Lord Badge and Warrenton, which finished second to Pink Coat in the American Derby of 1S98, came here yesterday from Baltimore, closed an option taken last spring on six colts and two iillios bv McGee that were bred by Charles W. Moore at the Mere Hill Stud and returned this morning to Iimlico. The yearlings were purchased by Mr. Oliver for J. S. Tyree. a prominent Washington chemist, and they will lie shipped to Beuuiiig about November 1 to I handled by Mr. Oliver. The llllles are IhiHi chestnut in color. One is out of Radiance and the other out of Royal Una. The Radiance filly is considered by good judges the handsomest of her age and sex in Kentucky "and she is to lie entered for the Epsom Oaks. Mr. Moore got ,000 for her. The colts are bays out of Saufara, Rosemay, California and Fly Catcher, while the chestnuts are out of Sweet Charlotte and Lady Quex. "I do not care to say just what Mr. Tyree paid for the eight head." said Mr. Oliver this morning, "but lie paid good prices for them all and I am satisfied that he got value in plenty for his money. If these do not turn out good race horses, then I shall miss my guess badly. They will be worth double the amount paid if the New York Legislature gives relief to the racing situation in the east by the passage of the Gittins bill, and I think it is quite certain that that measure will be adopted this fall."
