! 1 ! , . NOTES OF THE TURF. Hiawatha, owned by Charles Pfizer, won the Prix De La Breviere at Compiegne, France, yesterday. J. C. Calm will take Mockler and Sleeth to Juarez when the Latonia meeting ends, and he also hones to be able to pick up auother horse or two at tonia. James II. McCormick is continuing his training successes in Germany. He recently won the 5,000 Ilammonia Preis for two-year-olds with Baron On-. penheims Dolomit. T. Rice of Chicago had the mount and won by a head from Eva, ridden by AVink- field. The same day Mr. McCormick saddled the winner of another important race. Frank J. Gould has obtained first call on the scrv-i ices of Charley Chlhls, an English jockey, for uext years flat racing season In France. Johnny ReiiT. now riding for Mr. Gould, has engaged his first mounts to Baron Gourgand. while Guy Garner, August Belmonts jockey, will probably ride for Jean Steam upon the expiration of his present engagement in May. Henry McDaniel lias not as yet decided as to what he will do during the cold weather with his horses. This question he will settle during the coining Latonia meeting. At present lie has Juarez in mind, but as he is training a mixed stable of horses, owned bv several different turfmen, he is undecided where he will spend the winter. Mrs. I. H. AVheatcroffs AVoolwindcr has been added to his stable recently. This horse has a bad" leg and may not stand training.
