MYCENAE began slowly, but moved up with a rush, and, although forced to go wide into the stretch, finished fast and gamely and drew clear in the last furlong. CARLTON CLUB ran well in the stiff going and got up in the last stride for second place. CASEY JONES tired after setting the pace to the stretch. SLEETH was going fast at the end. GAY BIRD and DR. FAIRY STORY, well ridden, was saved early and allowed to move into the lead after going three-quarters, then drew away and won in a canter. TOM HAYAVARD ran forwardly and gamely throughout, but tired near the end. SAM BARBER, from a slow beginning, gained steadily in the last quarter. PHIL MOHR tired after showing the most speed for three-quarters. EFFENDI sulked most of the way. TURRET ran poorly. BOB CO ran away after the finish and unseated his rider. CONSOLE suffered from interference at the start and might havu been closer up but for this. LABOLD quit after going a good three-quarters. Scratched 0S5S4 Angelus, 10G.
