. NOTES OF THE TURF. C. C. Van Meter lias sold Dilatory to H. II. Emmonds of Washington, D. C. The horses that "Canada Jack" Adkins has been training for It. J. Mackenzie will go into winter quarters at Lexington. John Reid, a Calgary sportsman, is attempting to get together a stable. He tried to purchase Vanir at Coeur dAlene for ,500; but the owner refused the offer. He also talked with Early Wright about buying Arasee. Jockey Fretl Herbert has left the employ of Baron Oppenheim and R. Hamel, for whom he went to Germany to ride, because his riding was confined to morning work with only an occasional mount in public. T. Rice continues to ride well for these stables, which are trained by James McConnick. One of Rices latest achievements was the winning of the German St. Leger on Royal Flower.
