GEORGE OXNARD followed the leaders close up to the stretch turn, from -where lie drew out to win casing up. CREME DE MENTHE set the early pace and stayed gamely in the closing drive. MANAGER MACK closed a big gap and finished with a rush. GANADORE ran prominently and well to the stretch and tired in the last furlong. CASEY JONES can do much better and failed to show much speed. JACK WEAVER, seemingly favored by the going, followed the leader closely to the stretch and. taking a small lead, gamely held it to the end. IRISH KID ran well and, saving ground by staying close to the inner rail where the going was best, made a fast and resolute finish. IMPRUDENT ran forwardly. but tired in the stretch. RUBIOLA closed a gap and was gaining at the end. SYLVESTRIS set the pace to Ihe stretch and quit badly. BOB CO bolted and interfered with CANOPIAN at the start, causing both to be left. MOCKLER was in close quarters for most of the stretch racing and finished gamely. STARE closed a big gap and came with a rush -in the last quarter. HOFFMAN was also gaining at the end. MADAM PHELPS also closed a big gap and stood the final drive gamely. LUCKY WISH ran well, but tired after going a good half mile. GOLD MINE showed lilgh speed in pacemaking for the first half, but quit in the stretch. .MERODE was in close quarters through the stretch.
