While Well-Backed Contenders in Race Encounter Interference — Course Is Heavy. Charleston. S. C. .March !.— The Georgetown Stakes, at half a mile, for two ear olds, and carry ing a gross value of ,200, featured todays card at Palmetto Park. This event was won by Libert V Hatt, from the stable of Bobert Davies of Toronto, under T. Koemers skilful guidance. Pacing link played a prominent part in the outcome, for the winner was at all times clear, while some of his supposedly most formidable opponents were sub jected to frequent Interfereaee. Silver Rill showd a creditable performance in taking second niuSKjr Hilly Holder was third. The latter stumbled several times or he might have been closer up. The winning chances of Bthelburg II.. Hurgeois and Ralph Lloyd, all of which were smartly backed, were effectually destroyed immediately at the start when they- were caught in a jam. Changed track conditions following heavy rain last night produced many upsets in form calcnln tions. Moekler was the only favorite that Wl reeded in taking a purse. This was in the hand cap at one mile and an eighth, in which a quintal ol fairly good ones made up tin- field. Butwell gave the winner a perfect ride. In fact, it was the be exhibition that Butwell has given during the nice lag, and it was partially responsible for the horses success. G. M. Miller just outstayed Idleweiss ! . • secoad plai .-. The breeders purse which opened the days Spc served to eliminate from further raciag J. K. Wain Wrights Indian Maid, which by winning reverts to the association and will be located at some convenient point in the state for breeding purposes. In addition to winning with Indian Maid. J. K. Walnwrigtrt made it a double by the victory of Al Midler. The latter scored in lucky fashion, as Inioii Jack was best. The closing dish went Io New Star, which is showing steady improvement in behavior at the post, .1. C. Milam seems to be the target of the run-up men just now. Every horse of his that has won a selling race has been lioostod. After Morrlstown won the second race this afternoon. Sam Louis was on hand and secured the colt on his bid of ,300, which was a raise of H over the entered price. The three-year-old Plaudit colt. Pack, is again in Lou Johnsons stable. Puck ran in II. G. Bedwells eohcs jn the aecawd race this afternixm and after he was beaten Mr. Johnson claimed him. The horse was taken from the Johnson stable several davs ago by Sam Louis, who iu turn disposed of him to Mr. Bedwell. J. W. Hedrick. who has not figured in the bidding of late, broke out afresh inis aft.ru. .ton after Al Mailer won and lioost. d him 00. .1. ft. Wainwright protected the horse and then claimed All Bed, which finished second. The latter was the first horse that I. S. P. Randolph has started a I the meeting. Jake P.yer brought the horse over from Aiken, a few days ago. IU left the good handicap horse Plate Glass at Aiken, the plans being not to race the latter until the spring meeting at Pimlico. ___j
