CHANGE IN HAVSE DE GRACE PLANS In order to avoid conflict with the meeting of the Maryland United Hunts at Pimlico a change has been made in the arrangements for the opening of the new track of the liarford Agriculture and Breed ¬ ers Association at Havre de Grace M L The meet ¬ ing will be opened on Saturday August 24 instead of on Monday August 20 as originally scheduled and there will be no racing at Havre de Grace on two of the days that racing will be conducted at Pimlico by the United Hunts This will leave only one day on which there will be a conflict be ¬ tween the two tracks and that will be Lybor Day when there probably will be sufficient patronage for both courses The Havre de Grace meeting will run for twentynine days under the revised schedule closing on September 30 For the opening day Sec ¬ retary Fred Rehberger has announced an attractive program of six races made up of an allaged handi ¬ cap 1000 added six furlongs an allaged handi cai 100O added one mile and seventy yards a selling race for twoyearolds 500 added five fur ¬ longs a selling race for threeyearolds and over 500 added one mile and an eighth a selling race for threeyearolds and over 400 added one mile and seventy yards and a special weight race for twoyearold maiden fillies and geldings 400 added five furlongs Entries for the handicaps will close at the new course on Thursday August 22 at 1 p m and for the other races on the following day dayAs As a part of the new arrangement the Maryland United Hunts management has changed the dates for its meeting to August 28 and 30 anil September 2 It will be on the first named two days that there will be no racing at Havre de Grace Both tracks will have races on Labor Day September 2 but as the Hunts program calls for four steeple ¬ chases on that day while no jumping events will take place at Havre de Grace the character of the sport will be sufficiently diversified to attract large crowds to each course courseAt At one time it was feared that the Hunts meet ¬ ing would be entirely broken up both as regards horses and attendance by the competition of the new track at Havre de Grace and it was with no Httlo satisfaction that the management of the amateur meeting received word from Manager Edward Burke of the new course that he was willing to change his arrangements to avoid a conflict
