SWIFT ONES IN MEMORIAL HANDICAP. Louisville. Ky.. April 8. — Many of the best sprinters now in training figure among the fifty -nine nominations to the Memorial Handieap, one of the feature races of the eaaainaj spring meeting ot Douglas Park. Which begins this year on Monday. May 29 and coaan to a close after thirteen days racing, on Monday, June 12. The Memorial Handicap will be run this year on Tuesday. May 30 Decoration dayi. which is the week during which the Kentucky Handicap will be run, Saturday. Jnn. 8, being the date. Last year the Kei.tucky Handicap was run on May 29 and the Memorial was derided on M:y 31. for the reason that the date of Decoration day fell on Sunday in 1015. This stake is an annual fixture at D-uglas Iark, and has always resulted in a marvelously fast run race. Caugli Hill won it in 1913, running the three-quarters in 1:12. In 1914. Ix-oi hares captured the stake and covered the distance in 1:11%, and in 191." the winner, Bradleys Choice, had to run iu 1:12 to set home in front of the fast horses opposed to him. The event this year marks tin-first stake engagement in Kentucky of George Wingfields filly Polistena. which has come to this country from England and in iier only start there finished first in a field of twenty-seven horses.
