MUD RUNNERS GIVEN A DAY SNOW AT BOWIE CHANGES THE GOING BUT DOES NOT HURT THE RACING. Videt Falls and Gives a Race to Hudas Brother —Freda Johnson and Pharaoh Successful — Dryad First and Changes Owners, Baltimore. Md.. April 8. — A heavy snowstorm which swept over Maryland this morning changed the condition of the going entirely at the Bowie course for the afternoons racing and as a result mud runners has a field day. Despite the sudden change in track conditions there were only a few withdrawals. An accident which occurred during the first race happily resulted without serious consequences to either horses or riders. Videt, the favorite of the race, fell while running in :i prominent position, leaving Hildas Brother to go on to victory by himself. Lost Fortune and Mr. Mack were none too well ridden, which helped Freda Johnson to win the second, while in the third Humiliation succumbed to Pharaoh, which was making his debut for the season. Prandywine pulled up lame in his race, which went to the speedy Brighouse. Among the stables that arrived from Hot Springs today were those of W. H. Nevins, H. Neustetter. II. Newhouse, G. Moore, E. T. Rickett and Matt Foster. J. McTaggart cancelled all his engagements today, on account of a boil in his ear. W. A. Carter today purchesd Ask Ma from George Phillips. The horsemen have prepared a petition that will be offered to the Harford Agricultural Preeders Association, asking for 00 purses at Havre de Grace. Many of the purses in the book there are f 00 value. A like pettttea is being prepared to be submitted to the holf-mile tracks in Canada. P. Powers has purchased Good Counsel from Lewis Garth. This is one that Garth took out of 1 recent selling race. E. J. Crawford has decided to punch fire Politician and leave him at Powie at the dose of the present meeting. He entertains the hope that this will cure the bad ankles that have been making him ipiit in his races. After the first race Videt was claimed from Hamlet Moore by J. M. Hack. Dryad, winner of the fifth race, was again the target for a run-up. He was entered for S700 and ranted to ,100 by A. C. Parretto, at which figure he was sold by owner Garth.
