GREATER VALUE OF FORT ERIE STAKES. There is one feature of the Fort Erie stakes of this year that will appeal effectively to owners. That feature is the change from guaranteed value to added money stakes. The resulting gain in values to winners will be important. Of late years the guaranteed value of the Canadian Derby has been . 900 and its net return last year was .120. This year it has S3.r Ni added and its net value should not he far from .O00. Last year the im porta tit Dominion Handicap was the guaranteed value of . sal and its net value was ,450. This year with . 000 added the winner is certain to take a much greater sum than Borrow won for Mr. Whitney in 1915. The same principle applies to all the other stakes in the list, which closes for entries next Tuesday.
