HARRY KELLY MAKES GOOD SCHORR TWO -YEAR -OLD STAR WINS IN A CANTER OYER A HEAVY TRACK. Folistcna Runs Poorly in the Mud — Milestone Defeats St. Isidore in a Close Finish — George Smith Sent to Louisville. Lexington. Ky.. May 3. — John W. Schorrs much-heralded two-year-old Harry Kelly, made an auspicious racing debut this afternoon when he accounted for the fourth race at four and a half furlongs in easy style under restraint. His success was foreshadowed in the betting, for he ruled an overwhelming favorite. While his performance was a noteworthy one in every particular, his opposition was regarded as somewhat ordinary and this race could not be regarded as furnishing a real line to his capabilities. He was away from the barrier like a flash, making the others appear as if they were standing still and secured a five-lengths lead in what seemed a few strides. Thereafter his rider took him under restraint and allowed him to canter to the finish at his leisure. A more dreary day for the sjM rt could hardly be concehed. Kain fell heavily during the entire afternoon and the track resembled a miniature lake. Favorites fared remarkably well in most instances, the majority of the winners coming from the ranks of first choices. The Wyckliff Purse, with its 00, was the outstanding feature of the day, and furnished a rousing struggle Ixtween Milestone and St. Isidore. The former ruled at odds-on and escaped defeat by the narrowest of margins. A. L. Kirby uncovered Dr. Tuck in the second race and the colt made a show of the eleven other youngsters in the race, winning by eight lengths, but with his rider driving him out to the limit. Considerable interest was manifested in the ap-l earanee of Polistena. the English filly that George W. Wingfield imported last year at a high cost. Her debut was anything but impressive- and she was badly beaten. Noureddin furnishing the surprise in this race by winning over Ed Howard, with Sleetta in third place.
