SOMEWHAT DULL RACING AT AQUEDUCT. Hauberk Outstays Sandman II. in the Principal Race of the Day Bayberry Candle Eeats Borrow. New York, July 5. It was a dull sort of a day for racing, with intermittent showers, yet it did not keep the usual crowd from journeying to Aqueduct. The Rockaway Selling Stakes was the particular event of the days racing. The race was reduced by withdrawals, seven going to the post out of thirteen carded. Sandman II. was installed first choice over Rac and just failed to win, being outgamed by Hauberk in a drive through the last eighth. Dae figured for a while as the leader, but retired in the last eighth. There was considerable crowding among the second-division horses in the stretch, from which Libyan Sands suffered, as did Fenmouse and J. J. Lillis, but all were beaten at the time. Itayberry Candle repeated her previous winning performance by beating Rorrow in the overnight handicap, after standing a challenge from Rhine Maiden and then Rorrow. The Whitney horse was sluggish at the beginning and lost ground, but it is doubtful if he could have beaten the mare had it been a two-horse race. Sun God was third. The others were decidedly outpaced. The time, 1:3S, was extremely fast, considering atmospheric conditions. J. W. Iledrick advanced Gloaming, winner of the first race, from to ,200, but failed to get him. J. J. McGraw was a visitor today. Virginia W. was withdrawn from the first race today and her trainer. J. Tliornby, stated she was kicked by Ting-a-Ling while at the post in her last race. M.
