BILLY FREW moved up rapidly while rounding the far turn and, taking the lead, hung on gamely in a closely contested linish. MOSS FOX was in close quarters in the early running and finished with a rush. 3IAUSOLUS began slowly and was forced to work his way np on the outside, then came wide when entering the homestretch, but finished fast and close np. Won easily; second and third driving. KATENKA moved up rapidly after being straightened out in the homestretch and drew away into an easy lead in th e last eighth. BEAUTY SPOT showed the most speed in the early manning, but tired badly after going a half mile. ARRAVAN began slowly but came through fast on the inside in the last eighth and would have been second in another stride. THOUGHTFUL and DR. PRATHER ran well. SHEPHERDESS, after racing in close pursuit of the leaders to the stretch turn, passed NIGADOO and HARRY LAUDER, hut just outstayed GOLDY. The latter was outrun early, hut closed up ground in resolute fashion and would have won in another stride. HARRY LAUDER raced under restraint for seven-eighths, but quit when called on for a final effort. NIGADOO set tiie pace to the last turn and dropped back. The winner was entered for 00; no bid.
